Timely Topics: Accelerating Possibilities for American Indian and Alaska Natives in U.S. MD-Granting Institutions

Join us for a highlight of the Wy’east Post-Baccalaureate Pathway, presented by Erik Brodt, M.D. The Wy’east Program is a tuition-free post-baccalaureate health education pathway for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) learners who are passionate about becoming physicians. Wy’east provides a holistic, culturally-specific framework for the successful recruitment, training, retention, and graduation of AI/AN medical students.
Presented by:
Erik Brodt, M.D. is a family physician, associate professor of family medicine at OHSU and director of the Northwest Native American Center of Excellence. Dr. Brodt received his M.D. from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed residency training in family medicine at Swedish Medical Center Cherry Hill – Seattle Indian Health Board, and fellowship at Mayo Clinic Spirit of Eagles. In addition to caring for patients, he works to improve Native American health outcomes and increase Native American representation in health care. In 2021, Dr. Brodt was elected to the National Academy of Medicine for his leadership and innovation in American Indian and Alaska Native workforce development.
