At the OHSU Foundation, we advance OHSU’s mission by igniting the power of philanthropy.

The OHSU Foundation exists to secure private philanthropic support to advance OHSU’s vital missions, and to invest and manage gifts responsibly to honor donors’ wishes. Thousands of donors contribute millions of dollars in financial support to OHSU and OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital every year.

This broad range of support places OHSU among Oregon’s top beneficiaries of private philanthropy. And it makes the OHSU Foundation, with more than $1.5 billion in assets, one of the largest public university foundations in the Northwest.

OHSU Foundation completes Onward campaign

Thanks to the support of more than 50,000 donors, we raised $2 billion for OHSU programs.

OHSU Depends on You

As Oregon’s academic medical center, OHSU takes on the toughest challenges in medicine to transform human health. Philanthropic investment supports education, medical research and patient care to improve the health and well-being of all Oregonians. Donors can make a difference across the spectrum of health goals and challenges, from heart disease to brain health to ending preventable blindness to improving health equity.

In 2020, our generous community quickly rallied with an outpouring of support for OHSU’s COVID-19 response, expanding access to care and testing, improving critical care abilities, and helping to keep front-line workers safe. Every year, philanthropy fuels OHSU’s work to make discoveries faster, save more lives and give hope to millions.

The Transformative Impact of the Onward Campaign

Over the past several years, philanthropy has made thousands of stories possible. Stories of people who have been impacted by the generous support of donors. Here are a few of them.

Every single donor helped shape the ONWARD campaign. Many were inspired to give to save lives, to honor their loved ones or to pursue the biggest questions in research. Hear from a few donors, in their own words, why they were inspired to give.
