3D Printed Digital Dentures

Digital Dentistry and 3D printing are altering the traditional practice of dentistry. In this continuing education webinar, Eric Muraoka ’12, D.M.D. presents innovations in digital dentures. Dr. Muraoka is a dentist and a digital 3D data scientist with a focus on specialty dentistry, 3D printing, and milling prosthetics for patients and dentists. He has developed a design protocol to deliver suction dentures for his patients. In this webinar, participants will learn how to go from records to designing and printing permanent prosthetics.

Dental Politics in Oregon: How Salem Affects You, Your Practice and Your Patients and What You Can Do About It

The Oregon State Legislature often passes bills that affect dentistry, influencing a broad array of concerns including: the scope of dental practice; dental practice ownership; the creation of new midlevel providers; health initiatives; and Medicaid funding. Oregon dentists can play a critical role in shaping these policies, ensuring they are in the best interest of dental care providers and their patients. In this continuing education webinar, Jen Lewis-Goff, associate executive director at the Oregon Dental Association provides an overview of the current and future state of political affairs and dentistry with a focus on empowering Oregon dentists with tools to better engage and influence dental policy in the state.

Treating Patients With Comorbidities

Treating patients with comorbidities has become the norm as more and more patients have comorbidities at younger and younger ages. This requires extra care, sometimes modifications, and often requires interdisciplinary collaboration with other providers in the healthcare system. In this continuing education webinar, David Carsten, D.D.S., M.A.G.D. will review what it takes to safely treat patients with some of the most common medical problems.

Dr. Carsten is a dentist, anesthesiologist and an assistant professor in hospital dentistry at Oregon Health & Science University. He has a BS in biochemistry from Washington State University with a background in medical bacteriology and virology.

What We Learned from the Pandemic

COVID-19 has significantly altered dental practices, demanding adaptations to standard procedures to keep patients and providers safe. The ongoing pandemic continues to affect all aspects of our lives, threatening our health, disrupting our ability to interact face-to-face, and altering how educational courses are presented and received. In this one-hour continuing education course, OHSU School of Dentistry Dean Ron Sakaguchi, PhD, DDS will discuss adjustments made within dental practices while also exploring how the pandemic has changed our behaviors and goals, causing us to reflect on what we most value as we navigate this health crisis.
