On February 1, 2024, the OHSU Foundation and the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute premiered the documentary style short film Healing Within Reach, which focuses on the life-saving importance of equity and access in cancer prevention, detection, and care.
The foundation previously introduced cuts of the film with episode one, the story of Shonna Oliver, and episode two, about Derrik Zebroski’s work across the state with the Knight Cancer Institute’s mobile van. Now the full film has been released, with new interviews with Eneida Nemecek, M.D., Jessica Currier, Ph.D., and Cirila Estela Vasquez Guzman, Ph.D.
Learn more about the film at healingwithinreach.com and share it with those you know in rural areas and underserved communities who would benefit from receiving culturally sensitive cancer screening and other services closer to home.
Stay tuned for a recording of the panel discussion from the Knight School series of lectures at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute.
