Kathie Phan, RN, has been an oncology nurse on the Knight Cancer Institute’s bone marrow transplant floor for almost 20 years. She cares for patients with a variety of blood cancers and disorders, including leukemia, lymphoma and aplastic anemia.

Skull base surgeon Olabisi Sanusi, M.D., an assistant professor of neurological surgery in the OHSU School of Medicine, is inspired by her patients’ trust in her and her colleagues.

Sarah Paeth, B.S. ’14, M.N. ’16, CNM

OHSU School of Nursing alumna Sarah Paeth, B.S. ’14, M.N. ’16, CNM, is a nurse midwife whose practice extends into some of the most remote regions of the globe. She is currently based out of a critical access hospital in Kotzebue, Alaska — a small Inuit village 40 miles north of the Arctic Circle.

In Sarah’s “A Day in the Life,” follow along as she treks across the frozen tundra and reflects on the communities she serves in northern Alaska.

As a biomedical engineering Ph.D. student, Shanjida Khan works on cutting-edge imaging tech and conducts research at the OHSU Casey Eye Institute’s COOL (Center for Ophthalmic Optics and Lasers) Lab.
