Andreas K. Lauer, M.D., is Director for the OHSU Casey Eye Institute and Professor for the Department of Ophthalmology. He holds the Margaret Thiele-Petti and August Petti Endowed Chair. Dr. Lauer’s practice has been in the care of patients with medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous, and he is recognized internationally as a leading ocular gene therapy surgeon.
Lauer has served as ophthalmology residency program director, retina fellowship program director and head of the vitreoretinal division. He has served as investigator in clinical trials in the areas of ocular gene therapy, age-related macular degeneration, inherited retinal diseases, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and retinopathy of prematurity.
Aiyin Chen, M.D., specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma and cataract. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. degree from Cornell University. She then completed her medical training at the University of California, San Francisco, which included medical school, ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship. Chen is actively involved in teaching residents and fellow trainees. She received the Residency Program Teaching Award in 2017 and is also the recipient of the K12 career development award from the National Institute of Health. Her research interests include developing risk-prediction models for glaucoma using electronic health records, improving glaucoma testing using optical coherence tomography and angiography and increasing access to vision care through screening.
